Additional information: Recruiting for 1 permanent post

  • Assist in the formation and implementation of health and safety plans, setting long and short term objectives, deciding on priorities for improvements and determining appropriate performance standards.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture, and the awareness of relevant legislation, codes of practise and good health and safety standards by the development and implementation of policies, procedures, guidance and training.
  • Advise and assist management on matters concerning health, safety and environmental welfare of First Ark Group employees or others who could be affected by the Group’s activities including such matters as safe systems of work, hazard identification, risk assessment and hazard control measures and procedures.
  • Deliver in house training programmes as and when required.
  • To undertake accident reporting duties in accordance with RIDDOR and First Arks procedures, including assisting management with carrying out investigations.
  • Assist in the monitoring of contractors on site HSE performance in line with CDM regulations.
  • Assist the business in meeting is own requirements under the CDM regulations.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Ownership and delivery of assigned projects for HSE improvement activities
  • Any other adhoc duties , which may occur from time to time and are considered to be within the post holders capability , to ensure business continuity

  • Adapt a proactive approach to identify and mitigate risks to both your business area by informing your line manager and contribute to updating the risk register.
  • Expected to ensure compliance with all legal obligations concerning the protection of data concerning employees, customers and third parties.
  • To take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), whilst following the Group’s Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • To work in a variety of locations including premises not directly under the control of the Group.
  • Some flexibility over working hours is necessary to meet the requirements of the job.

 

 

  • Safety, health & environment auditing and inspections of premises, plant and machinery and systems of work carried out in line with company guidelines and within the timescales indicated by the Head of Safety, Health & Environment.
  • New and existing policies and procedures are in line with legislation and best practice and effectively implementation and communication to the business.
  • All incident investigation reports are correctly completed within policy timescale and suitable measures have been considered and implemented to prevent re-occurrences.
